Nick Gordon was reportedly paid $40,000 (£26,000) for photos and videos of his recent visit to Bobbi Kristina Brown's grave. Earlier in August, it was reported that "generous friends" flew the grieving 25-year-old to New Jersey so he could say his final goodbye.
According to The New York Post's Page Six, it was no coincidence that paparazzi caught Gordon saying his final goodbyes on 17 August, three weeks after the 22-year-old daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston was laid to rest. Rather, he was offered a hefty payday for the trip.
Bobbi Kristina died on 26 July at Atlanta's Peachtree Christian Hospice, almost six months after she was found unconscious at her home. She was buried next to her mother at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, on 3 August.
Gordon is currently facing a civil lawsuit filed by Bobbi Kristina's court-appointed conservator Bedelia Hargrove. Legal documents stated on 17 August that he murdered the reality star by giving her a "toxic cocktail" of drugs before putting her face-down in the bathtub at their Georgia home.
An insider adds that Bobbi Kristina's former boyfriend is planning to give the money to his legal team, who are working tirelessly to clear his name. "Nick is broke. He can't afford to defend himself. There was a deal for that money to go to his defense fund," the source said.
