David Cassidy in 'car crash' interview with This Morning's Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

US singer David Cassidy put This Morning presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford through their paces during what has been described as a "car-crash" interview. The 1970s star grew increasingly frustrated when asked about his recent filing for bankruptcy and divorce.

Appearing via video link from his home in Florida, which has been put up for auction for $1.8m (£1.17m), Cassidy, 65, was probed about the tribulations in his personal life including the state of his finances. When Holmes quizzed the Daydreamer singer about the bankruptcy, Cassidy hit back: "I'm sorry I don't know why you're asking me about my debts.

I'm not going to discuss [this]. Are you here to rubbish me? Is that the purpose of your interview with me?"

In attempts to appease him, Holmes mentioned the support of the singer's fans but Cassidy appeared to be confused before replying: "It's a difficult journey when you're going through a divorce." Langsford then tried to interrupt his train of thought but he became even more infuriated, repeatedly shouting: "Wait!"
