Campaign For Eagles Of Death Metal Number 1.

Fans have launched a campaign to get a single by the Eagles Of Death Metal to number one in the UK.

The California band were playing at the Bataclan theatre in Paris when gunmen burst in and slaughtered at least 89 people on Friday.

A Facebook page has been created to encourage people to buy or download Save A Prayer to show support for the group and their fans.

"For those unaware, EoDM and their fans were the band caught up in the horrific atrocities at the Batoclan (sic), Paris this week," said a message by the creators of the page.

"We thought it would be a nice gesture to put their brilliant version of 'Save A Prayer' to the UK No.1 spot as a show of support to the band and all of those affected."

The terrorist attacks left 129 people dead and video from the Bataclan gig has emerged showing the moment gunfire erupted as the band played.

The group have not spoken or issued a statement since the attacks.

Their publicist told Sky News they are "trying to come to terms with what has happened" and may make a statement in coming days.
