Hunger Games star Natalie Dormer says the beauty of the story is that gender doesn't matter.

Natalie Dormer, who plays Jennifer Lawrence’s fellow rebel Cressida in The Hunger Games films, has said the beauty of the story is that it makes gender irrelevant.

The British-born actress, who has also starred in The Tudors and Game Of Thrones, explained: “That’s the beauty of The Hunger Games, and it extends from [novelist] Suzanne Collins, is that the genders are almost interchangeable.”

She added: “[Rebel leader] Alma Coin could easily be played by a man, Cressida could easily be played by a man, and if you reversed the gender of the romances, Katniss [Jennifer's character] could easily be played by a man.

“That’s how you know when you’ve reached proper equality, is when gender is irrelevant.”
