Lord Sugar showed no mercy in this week’s episode of The Apprentice. He fired three candidates in a boardroom bloodbath that saw the end of project manager Elle Stevenson, sub-team leader Mergim Butaja and their colleague April Jackson.
In an attempt to persuade the 68-year-old business mogul to save him, Kosovan-born Mergim, who fled the war-torn country with his family when he was seven years old, made an impassioned speech about being a refugee.
It went down well, but he was still fired “with regret”. Mergim admitted that it got to him.
