Jacob Elordi's new series The Narrow Road to the Deep North is not a true story, but it is inspired by one.

The five-part BBC drama explores the events of the Second World War and the experiences of Prisoners of War of the Japanese, particularly Australian soldiers who were captured. This subject is explored through the experiences of Doctor Dorrigo Evans (Elordi young, Ciaran Hinds older), who reflects on his time in captivity as well as a secret love affair he had prior to the war.
