Drake pockets over R18 million after Canada's World Cup victory over Bafana Bafana

Canadian rap superstar Drake is celebrating more than just his country's progress at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after cashing in a massive sports wager following Canada's 1-0 victory over South Africa.

Before the Round of 32 clash, Drake revealed on Instagram that he had placed a $770,000 (approximately R13.8 million) bet through Stake on Canada to beat Bafana Bafana. The wager carried a total payout of $1,001,000 (around R18 million) if Canada advanced to the next round.

With Canada's victory secured, the Grammy-winning artist walked away with the seven-figure payout, earning an estimated profit of $231,000 (about R4.1 million) after deducting his original stake.
